The males of selected (IWH-247 birds) and control (IWC-94 birds) strains of White Leghorn chicken were utilized for the present experiment to study the effect of hatching and selection for part period egg production on various semen quality traits. The effect of hatch date on semen quality traits were more pronounced in selected strain than control. Selection influenced cetain semen quality traits such as semen colour and apperence, semen volume per ejaculate, concentration of spermatozoa while initial motility of spermatozoa and total sperms per ejaculate were unaffected.
