We establish that two black and white species of Ragadia, R. crisilda Hewitson and R. critolaus de Niceville, occur allopatrically in Peninsular Malaysia. A new species, Poritia ibrahimi sp. n., is described, and the Hypolycaena amabilis complex is considered to comprise two sympatric species, H. amabilis (de Niceville) and H. phemis H.H. Druce. Geographical variation in the genus Tapena is discussed. In light of recent research by various authors, a number of changes in status and/ or nomenclature are made. The validity of a number of names recently published is examined.
