Twenty healthy and cadang-cadang-infected coconut wood representing two age groups:equal 40 years and equal 60 years old were evaluated for their mechanical properties like compression strength, sheer strength, cleavage, nail withdrawal and bending strength. Finding showed that mechanical property values of wood from both healthy and diseased palms were not significantly different from each other except in the nail withdrawal and compression perpendicular to grain test. Recorded mean values for coconut wood derived from diseased palms (equal 40 years old) generally showed higher mechanical values than those of healthy ones. Healthy palms (equal 60 years old), on the other hand, exhibited stronger and better mechanical properties than diseased palms only in the butt or base portion of the trunk. Mid-and top logs of older infected palms tend to be stronger than healthy palms except in the compression parallel to grain and static bending (dry specimens).
