The trail on protection of apple fruit from hail storm with nylon netting was carried out at Hill Fruit Research Station, Sunny Bank, Murree during the years 1985 and 1986. Maximum yield in terms of number of fruits per tree (120 fruits) and fruit weight (204.39/g fruit) and current season shoot growth (39.00 cms) was seen in apple plants whose canopies were covered with nylon netting either staked with bamboo rods or iron bars. Both type of netting found statistically at par to each other. Minimum yield, fruit weight and shoot growth was noted in the trees which were left uncovered. Nylon netting either staked with iron bars or bamboo rods covering is recommend for protection against hail storms under Murree hills climatic conditions.
