The experiment "Effect of row orientation on the grain yield and yield components of maize varieties under Peshawar conditions" was conducted at Malakandher Research Farm NWFP Agricultural University Peshawar, during spring and kharif seasons of 1990. The study revealed that the north-south direction took significantly less number of days to flowering, and maturity. The north-south direction also resulted into the highest number of leaves per plant, thousand grain weight and the grain yield. The effect of varieties was also found significant and variety Ehsan resulted into the highest thousand grain weight, while varieties Azam and Ehsan gave the highest grain yield in spring and kharif, respectively, which is significantly different from the other treatments.
