The blood serum from young (6-8 months) clinically healthy male and female standard nutrias from a private herd were analysed. The animals were kept in concrete pens with pools. They were fed by heat treated barley or wheat and they were given green feed or fodder beet as supplementary feed according to season of year. The animals were killed in the period of fur maturity. The blood were sampled from nasal cavity immediately after slaughtering (by knock to the nape of neck). The chosen biochemical parameters were determined by Bio-tests (Lachema Brno, Czech Republic). It was found out that the blood serum of young nutrias contained totally 5.53 mmol urea, 47.51 g total proteins, 1.11 mmol triglycerides, 2.21 mmol total phosphorus, 90.59 mmol chlorides, 0.52 micro kat AlAT and 0.64 micro kat AspAT per liter of blood serum. Differences in influence of sex of animals were found in the concentration of urea (P0.01), when the concentration in males was 6.56 mmol and in females 4.98 mmol per liter of serum, and in total phosphorus (P0.05), the concentration of which was in males 2.36 mmol and in females 2.13 mmol per liter of blood serum. The correlations manifested differently in males and females, strong correlation was in the relation AlAT to AspAT (r
