Rate and method of nitrogen fertilization for sesame production in sandy loam soils

Rate and method of nitrogen fertilizer application for sesame production were studied in sandy loam soil in Sakon Nakhon Chachoengsao, Khon Kaen and Ratchaburi provinces in 1990-1991. Treatment consisted of three rates of nitrogen which were 4 8 12 kg N/rai and three methods of nitrogen fertilization: 1) basal underneath in planting row, 2) sidedressing after planting 20 days, 3) split application: 1/2 N basal and 1/2 N sidedressing after planting 20 days, phosphate and potash fertilizer were applied at the rate of 8 P2O5 and 4 K2O kg/rai, respectively. Result from the experiment showed that there were no statistically significant difference in sesame yield as the effect of nitrogen rate and method of application.
