Jankovic, M. (Zavod za urbanizam i komunalnu delatnost Srbije, Beograd (Yugoslavia))
One of the main spatial features of Serbia (Yugoslavia) is a notable presence of the various high value natural and artificial protected sites. This is best proven by the fact that on the territory of Serbia there are five National parks (Frushka Gora, Kopaonik, Djerdap, Tara and Shara mountain), numerous nature parks, and important natural reserves, as well as a numerous protected urban historical sites and old objects. A high number of these is enlsted, or will be, in the international inheritance registry (Studenica monastery). The cities represent one of the highest values in Serbia, with their exceptional economical importance, a still highly preserved environmental quality and insufficiently recognized development potential.
