In this investigation the influence of different active agents was examined on carcass value and meat quality of male broilers (n=180). Beside a negative control, an antibiotic performance promoter (Flavomycin), a probiotic (Paciflor) and two spice mixtures were involved. The lean content of the valuable joints: breast and thighs was significantly higher with about 3% at the Flavomycin-, Pacoflor- and herb groups than at the zero control groups. Positive influences showed the herb group at the cooking loss of the breast meat. In the fat content of the breast meat significant minor decreases were observed at the Flavomycin- as well as at the spice groups. The treatment had no influence on the TBA - number. The fatty acid pattern of the abdominal fat was subject to varying influence of the preparations. Summing up it can be said, that the phytogenic digestive promoters can replace the antibiotic performance promoters at the male broilers in certain extent.
