In this study it is described the method of sequential extraction by which with an application of extraction's agents of increasing extraction power, it is selective dissolve completely defined, specifically associated fraction of heavy metals from the same sample of the geological material. From the diference of the others contaminated substances, which are subject to chemical and physico-chemical transformations, the heavy metals are accumulated composed in a balanced system water-sediment-aquatic organisms. Differences of the properties of heavy metals for the consequance has various types of it's apperance in aquatic ecosystem, as well as the participation in different interactions which significantly influence on solubility, mobility, toxicity and the others ecology important characteristics of heavy metals. Under phases of sequential extraction it means the discrete physical phases of the geological materials; silicate, oxide, sulfide and organic phase, like the associated fractions of heavy metals. At non-selective joint metals, it is often used the expression absorptive or changeable phase.
