Preliminary notes on helminth parasites (mostly flatworms) of wild small mammals of Southern Nigeria

Twenty one species of helminth parasites consisting of one trematode, Platynosomum fastosum, fifteen species of Hymenolepis, two species of Taenia and a species each of Raillientina, Anomotaenia and Inermicapsifer are identified from 715 wild small mammals made up of 445 murid and 270 crocidurine mammals in southern Nigeria. Brief taxonomic descriptions on the major differentiating features of the parasites are provided.
