Ascorbic acid administerated oraly to lead exposed rats have similar chelating properties as equimolar amonunts of parenterally administered CaNa2EDTA. Ascorbic acid in combination with CaNa2EDTA is more than twice as effective as either chelating agents administrated alone and the combination was particularly effective in removing lead from the central nervous system.
