In the model experiment with high wilted alfalfa and grass growths, examined was the preservative effect of the additive Lactobacillus plantarum DSM 12771 on the fermentation process quality. It decreased the pH value, inreased the titrating acidity value and lactic acid content by 21.52 % in alfalfa and by 24.7 % in grass silage. Fermentation acid total production in dry matter increased by 20.52 % and 32.7 %, respectively. The content of acetic acid was lower, butyric acid was not found in any silage. The contribution of silage inoculation is in more favourable chemical composition and nutritive value.
