The aim of the present work was to evaluate the efficacy of vaccination against Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae from the point of view of antibodies formation, health, daily weight gain, meat quality and lung lesions. The investigation was carried out on 44 crossbred 7-day-old piglets free from M. hyopneumoniae infection. Twenty-two piglets were vaccinated intramuscularly, 22 were left as controls. The antibodies against M. hyopneumoniae were not formed before vaccination in any of the groups. Antibodies against enzootic pneumonia in the vaccinated group were formed after fourteen days from the second vaccination and remained present until day 77. Antibodies against M. hyopneumoniae had not been formed in unvaccinated pigs. Pigs with artificially acquired active immunity achieved higher daily weight gain, growth rate, slaughter weight, better meat quality and less pneumonia lesions than control pigs.
