Comparison of the content of foreign substances in tissues of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and in bottom sediment of the Regent pond in 1992 and 2000

Concentrations of several heavy metals and other pollutants (Hg, Pb, Cd, Zn, Ni, Cu, Cr, As, PCB, HCH, DDT, HCB, OCS) in carp tissues and bottom sediments of the Regent pond (Czech Republic) were monitored in 1992 and in 2000. Hygienic limits for the concentrations in muscles were not exceeded in any substance studied. Statistical comparisons of muscle contamination showed lower values for Hg (P0.05), Cr, Zn, and DDT (P0.01) in 2000 than in 1992. Bottom sediments contamination was very low.
