Through his work, Robert Scmidt Eligius the Kossuth-Prize winning hydrogeologist gained acknowledgement and recognition for the Hungarian hydrogeological research, in Hungary and abroad alike. His hydrogeological atlas was used as a model even in Japan. He elaborated and summarized the relationship between the structure of the earth and its hydrogeological features. His work had a direct effect on the exploration and scientific cognition of the mineral and thermal waters of the country.
