Fluorine content of drinking and mineral waters in Hungary

In 46 tap-water samples and 10 spring-water ones collected from 17 counties of Hungary and 14 different bottled mineral waters, fluorine was determined on the direct potentiometric route using an ion-selective electrode. All but an only spring-water, fluorine concentrations of the drinking waters analysed were found to be lower than the value of 1000 microg/L regarded to be optimum level. Apart from the above-mentined outlying value the mean and the standard deviation of results obtained for the drinking waters were 140 and 89 microg/L, respectively.
