Efficiency of liming on the effectiveness of phosphate rock in different agrocenosis

The field experiments were carried out in Western Lithuania, on acid and limed soils during 1997-1999. The experiments were conducted on three backgrounds of acidity: a) on non-limed acid soil with a high content of Al (pHKCL 4.3-4.4, hydrolytic acidity 41-44 m.ekv/kg of soil), b) on the soil limed with 0.5 rate of CaCO3 pulverized limestone, and c) on the soil limed with 1.0 rate of CaCO3. In the experiments superphosphate and phosphate rock from Maardu deposit were used for comparison. The phosphate rock is recommended for the use in growing cheap and ecological plant production. Crops, sensitive to soil reaction, were grown in the trials: fodder beet, barley and fodder grass. In the non-limed soil the plant yield was low, the action of superphosphate was better than that of phosphate rock.
