Perception of farmers, extension personnel and researchers of district Killa Abdullah regarding linkages between research, extension services and farmers

The studies regarding linkages among farmers, extension workers, and researchers of district Killa Abdullah of Balochistan was done at Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam during 1999. Among the three groups of sampling means, standard deviation and ranks on the responses were computed. A study sample of 120 included 30 researchers, 30 extension workers, and 60 farmers. About (48%) of respondents belonged to 31-45 years of age, (58%) experience group of 21 years and more than 50% having university degree level. A questionnaire and survey form was developed and interviews were conducted. The data was analyzed by applying standard statistical techniques. Majority of farmer's reported that their linkages with extension and research are almost none. Majority of the extension personnel agreed that all the statements should be their obligations and researchers believed that 11 of the 13 statements should be their obligations. It was concluded that there was communication gap and lack of adoption of new technologies, so linkages should be strengthened.
