The studies to evaluate the efficacy of different insecticides against whitefly, Bemisia tabaci Genn. were carried out at Cotton Section, Agriculture Research Institute, Tandojam during 1999. The experiment was laid out in complete block design, with four replications and five treatment including control. The insecticides used were Tamaron (T1), Danital (T2), Hostathion (T3), Mospilan (T4). Two sprayings were done firstly 40 day after sowing and the second spraying were done after 15 days interval when the population had gain build up. Both spraying were done in early morning to avoid wield drift and hot- mid day temperature. Pre-treatments counts of whitefly were recorded 24 hours before spraying and post treatments count after the intervals of 24, 48 and 96 hours, 7 and 14 days each application of spray. Mospilan and Danita were most effective against white-flits, than the other insecticides tested. The toxicity of the insecticides reduced as after spray elapsed. It is recommended that Danitol and Mospilan can effectively be applied to control whitefly during vegetative growth of cotton crop.
