Effect of restricted feeding for different period on the performance of broilers
2000
Soomro, W.A.
Present experiment was conducted to study the "Effect of restricted feeding for different period on the performance of broilers". One hundred and fifty day old chicks were reared on the five experimental groups upto 42 days of age. The chicks were randomly distributed into five groups of 30 birds each. The body weight of individual birds, daily feed offered, refused feed and feed consumption was calculated weekly. Five birds from each group were taken at random and slaughtered for dressing percentage and weight of giblets (gizzard, liver, heart, intestine, skin & feathers and legs). Restricted groups A, B, C, D and E were given to each group for first 29 days and from 29 to 42 days restricted groups A, B, C, D and E. were given. In case of restriction period birds of different groups A, B, C, D restricted 1, 2, 3 and 4 hours and whereas E group was fed on ad libitum. During restriction period birds fed on groups A, B, C, D was restricted 1, 2, 3 and, 4 hours and E group was Fed on ad libitum. Results revealed highly significant difference among weight gain of chicks fed on different experimental restricted groups. The results of total weight gain of all groups of chicks were 1986.12, 2051.33, 2015.33, 2000.66 and 1963.46 grams respectively. Highly significant more weight gained by the chicks fed on group B as compared to all other groups. Total feed consumption of birds fed on different starter and finisher ration with restricted feeding A, B, C, D and E was 4051.66, 4087.66, 4081, 4054.33 and 4058.03 grams respectively. Highly significantly birds fed on group B as compare to other groups consumed more feed. The total feed conversion of birds fed on different rations restricted feeding A, B, C and E was 2.01, 1.99, 2.02, 2.02 and 2.06 respectively. The better feed utilization was observed in birds fed on rations B, whereas poor feed utilization in birds fed on rations C, D, E and A. Average dressing percentage of birds fed on different groups with restricted feeding was 60.05, 63.3, 62.06, 61.30 and 59.50 respectively. Highly significantly better dressing percentage was observed in birds fed on group B. Non significant differences were observed in weight of internal organs.
