Enhancement of fish pond productivity by using em-bio fertilizer in comparison to animal manure

To evaluate the utility of Effective Microorganism bio- fertilizer (EM Bio- fertilizer) in pond fish culture system, an experiment was conducted to compare it with organic manure that is used to fertilize fish ponds. The EM Bio-fertilizer was found effective as it significantly enhanced the primary productivity in quantitative as well as quantitative terms (p less than 0.05). Among the water quality parameters significant increase was observed in dissolved Oxygen content of EM-treated ponds, while transparency was decreased significantly (p less than 0.05).
