Changes in the microbial population on apple leaves after urea treatment

Urea treatment had clear influence on microbial populations on apple leaves. In autumn two weeks after treatment, the number of bacteria was almost ten times higher on urea treated samples than on control leaves. The opposite tendency was observed after spring treatment. During first two weeks the populations of bacteria were lower on treated leaves than on control ones. Also the changes in the population balance induced by urea were observed. After urea treatment the typical flora was rapidly converted to only Gram-negative, non-chromogenic microorganisms
