Aboveground dendromass production in tended pure stands of Spanish chestnut (Castanea sativa M i l l.)

The work evaluates a 40-yr development of the aboveground dendromass production in tended pure stands of Spanish chestnuts (Castanea sativa M i l l.) in its relation to thinning methods (crown thinning, positive selection, different interval of repetition and different intensity of intervention) and leaf area index (LAI) on the series of permanent research plots (PRP-s) at Zirany. During the whole period the highest dry mass production (stand weight stock, stand prospective trees weight stock) and LAI was obtained on PRP with severe crown thinnings and a 10-yr interval of repetition (PRP III and V)
