[Breeding value of parent plants used to develop pea varieties with improved grain quality in eastern Forest Steppe of Ukraine]

Genetic diversity of the species of Pisum sativum was studied to determine and develop parent crops for breeding pea varieties of improved grain quality in eastern Forest Steppe in Ukraine. As a result, appropriate parent crops were identified and developed for regional breeding peas of feed, food and industrial varieties. Special features of genetic inheritance and genetic control of grain quality characteristics were distinguished. Methods to develop pea varieties with improved grain quality were proposed
