Dose- and gender- dependance of hormonal response following external gamma irradiation in pigs

At the dose of 1.5 Gy, a compensatory elevation of studied hormonal parameters occurred at the end of the experimental period: 4.2 +- 0.5 ng/mL and 14.7+- 2.1 IU/L for T and FSH, respectively. 17-beta estradiol concentrations, as an indice of follicle activity, were 58+-4.3 pmol/L 4 months after irradiation ot 1.5 Gy, that was statistically significantly lowe vs 165+-6 pmol/L in controls. At the age up to the 8th month, a tendency towards compensation of the harmful impact of the 1.5 Gy irradiation was observed.
