Miloradic, J.
This dissertation begins with research analysis of basic theoretical and practical aspects of insurance business and later on shifts its focus to types of agricultural insurances, among which crop farming and livestock insurance are certainly the most important. Research shows that results achieved in agricultural insurance stem from its economic position, which is far more favourable in developed countries than here. The scope of agricultural insurance in Vojvodina is extremely low. During the analysed period, it has been found that impoverished agriculture has not even remotely used benefits of insurance protection. The analysis is somewhat more difficult to carry out with food-processing industry, as the situation varies from one firm to another. The results of this analysis show that economic effects expressed through claims settlement and payment to large extent confirm positive effects of insurance, not only in agricultural insurance but also in insurance of food-processing industry. In order to amend the current unfavourable situation that prevails in insurance of domestic agricultural and food-processing firms and to fully utilize their economic effects, it is necessary to enable for a more dinamic development of production and to ensure a more active participation of the state and the insurers themselves.
