Fuctional fermented milk product with probiotic bacteria strain Bifidobacterium longum BB 536 and dietary fibre - inulin is a modern simbiotic product with good efficiency towards regulation of intestinal transit time. During 14 days of regular intake of 500 ml of commercially produced fermented milk product with BB 536 strain number of stools was lowered in patients with Short Bowel syndrome, and number of stools in patients with chronic opstipation raised until normal stool frequency was obtained. During the commercially suggested expairy date number of probiotic bacteria was within therapeutic range (more than 10**6 CFU/ml). Normalization of intestinal transit time facilitates good apsorption of nutrients, and in restrictive diets this fermented product may help better weight reduction and improve results of the diet.
