By the end of 20th century the concept of rural development got the same importance both in EU countries and countries being in transition. The focus was not any more on exceeding regional development disparities, but in attempt for establishment coordination between agricultural development and development of other production and service activities within rural areas, in order to be provided optimal utilization of available resources in accordance with the sustainable developmental principles, as well as in order to be improved standard of living and quality of the population life. Within the concept of rural development both groups of countries try to find mechanisms for as much as possible efficient and painless necessary transformation of agrarian sector caused by EU expansion (i.e. joining of the new countries into the EU) as well as by WTO requirements. Although there are neither universal and usual parameters for evaluation of the measurements directed towards rural development, nor those parameters could be monitored and compared in the time dimension, the supporting mechanisms as well as institutional regulations which are being used in particular countries, whose effects have been tested, are significant experiences in preparation of our country for the start of more sophisticated approach to this development topic.
