Hungary is a country with excellent ecological potential and with rich traditions in vegetable production. Over the years, some species have gained special importance in certain regions, special technologies have been elaborated for their production and local varieties have been selected. It is their unique quality - shape, colour, flavour - that has made these vegetable characteristic both of the particular region and of the whole country as well. They are what we call "Hungaricums". The excellent colour and aroma of red pepperpowder coming from Kalocsa and Szeged is due to the special selection of the varieties, to the climate of the region and to the long years of technological development.
