[Effect of seawater on pyrite oxidation rate and nutrient inhibition of acid sulphate soil]

Английский. Due to missed calculation, the planned water control system cannot be realized, the grown water level cannot be controlled and the soil became over drain. The soil status changing from reduce to oxidize, creating acidity due to oxidation of pyrite and/or peat. The relationship between potential acidity and the rate of acid production can be used for leaching requirement (speed and total water will be used) to minimize the clay decomposition. The seawater can be acted as ion exchanger (concentrate seawater contains more than 500 me/l ions). The lowest concentration of seawater with maximum ability to protect deterioration of the clay and enrichment of nutrient status is needed to know in the relation to plant growth (acted as soil amelioration). The experiment deals with leaching process in colum as lysimeter systems. The factors are: (a) initial pyrite content as residual of first year experiment (0.73 percent, 1.07 percent, 3.08 percent and 3.85 percent); (b) aeration stages (well aerated and inhibited aeration), by arranging different rate of the mixture of quartizitic sand with the clay; (c) concentration of seawater (0.0 percent, 12.5 percent, 25 percent and 50 percent). The result of the experiment showed that: 1. Degradation process of pyrite still in reactive rate, particularly on pyrite content of more than 2 percent, the soil is dominated in reduction status, 2. The released acidity mainly in form of H which values much higher than Al +3, the cumulative amount of released acid still much smaller than the potential acidity in the soil, 3. pH of the leachetes always higher than in the soil (generally more than 5), reduction condition with ferrous ion control the pH, 4. The higher the pyrite content, resulted in the lower declined of the pyrite, only about 25 percent of the pyrite has been oxidized during the experiment, 5. The ability of seawater acting as ion exchanger is higher in the higher seawater concentration, 6. Seawater has no ability to inhibit or speed up the oxidation rate of the pyrite, but has ability to supply the basic cations to the exchange complex (especially for ions Mg and Ca)

индонезийский. Tata air yang tidak berfungsi menyebabkan telah terjadinya over drain sehingga status tanah yang semula reduktif berubah menjadi oksidatif (pemasaman tanah). Untuk itu perlu dipelajari hubungan antara potensi kemasaman dengan laju pengeluaran asam. Untuk mengurangi kontak antara asam yang timbul dengan tanah, maka pembilasan perlu segera dilaksanakan. Air laut dengan kandungan ion kurang lebih 500 me/l disamping berfungsi sebagai pembilas, juga berfungsi sebagai bahan penukar untuk mencegah perusakan lempung dan pengumpulan ion masam di kompleks pertukaran tanah. Percobaan (laboratorium) dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan tabung (kolom) paralon berdiameter 3 inci yang diisi oleh tanah sulfat masam potensial. Faktor yang digunakan adalah: (a) kandungan pirit tanah sisa percobaan tahun I, yaitu 0,73 persen, 1,07 persen, 3,08 persen dan 3.89 persen (b) Sistem pengolahan intensif yang didekati dengan aerasi "baik" dan minimum (aerasi "kurang baik") (c) kadar air laut yaitu 0,0 persen, 12,5 persen dan 50,0 persen. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa: 1. Proses degradasi pirit masih sangat reaktif, terutama pada kandungan lebih besar 2 persen, suasana tanah dalam kolom masih reduktif sehingga proses oksidasi terhambat, 2. Kemasaman yang timbul masih berupa H + terutama pada kadar pirit lebih besar 2 persen dengan nilai lebih tinggi dari pada Al +3, kandungan kumulatif kedua sumber asam ini masih sangat kecil dibandingkan potensi asam yang ada, 3. pH air Lindian lebih besar pH tanah (umumnya lebih besar 5,0, jika dihubungkan jumlah asam yang timbul, maka ion fero merupakan ion yang mencegah turunnya pH lebih rendah, disamping kation-kation basa 4. Hingga penelitian selesai hanya sekitar 25 persen pirit awal yang teroksidasi dan terlindi ke luar kolom percobaan, semakin besar kadar pirit semakin rendah prosentasi pengurangan piritnya, 5. Kemampuan air laut sebagai ion penukar cukup nyata meningkatkan pengeluaran asam, semakin tinggi kadar air laut akan semakin besar kemampuan penukarannya (50 persen air laut setara dengan 0,2 N), 6. Air laut tidak berperan dalam meningkatkan laju oksidasi pirit, tetapi air laut nyata berperan sebagai sumber hara dalam kompleks pertukaran terutama ion Mg dan Ca
