The influence of rhizobium-arbuscular mycorrhizae fungi inoculation and organic matters on infection activity of peanut on coastal sandy soil

A field research to study the influence of microbial inoculation and organic matters on the infection activity of Rhizobium and Arbuscular mycorrhizae fungi of peanut was done in Bugel coastal sandy soil at Kulonprogo Regency of Yogyakarta. The research was conducted on December, 1998 to April, 1999. The experiment was arranged in three replicated Completely Randomized Design, with two factors of inoculation treatment and organic matters. The inoculation tested were: only rhizobium-only, arbuscular mycorrhizae fungi, rhizobium plus fungi-and no inoculation. The mushroom waste compost; sugarcane press-mud; or cow manure were given as a source of organic matter to the soil. The peanut seeds were planted, after treated with microbial inoculation, for 12 weeks. The results showed that there was no interaction among the two treatments in affecting the infection activities of bacteria and fungi. There was no significantly differences among the organic matters treatment, while the microbial inoculation gave significantly ones. Inoculation of bacteria of fungi, separately, increased the nodules weight and improved the infection of fungi. It seems certain that root infected with fungi correlatively increased the number of effective root nodules and plant growth.
