Comparison of dot-elisa passive haemagglutination test for the detection of antibodies to duckplague

Duck plague (DP) otherwise known as Duck Viral Enteritis (DVE) is an acute herpes viral disease which causes severe encnomic loss to duck farmers of the eastern and southern states of India. Diagnosis of field outbreaks of DP has been traditionally based on the on the clinical findings, post mortem lesion and isolation and identification of the virus standardized Passive haemagglutination (PHA) fof Duck plague virus and Chandrika (1996) inferred that Dot-ELISA and Latex Agglutination Test (LAT) could very well be used for detection of DPV antigen. The present study describes and Indirect Dot-ELISA and PHA tests, and their comparative efficacy of the detection of antibodies to DPV.
