[Feasibility of barley growing on acid and limed soil under placement and broadcast fertilization]

This paper presents the summarized results of field and laboratory trials carried out at the Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture during the period of 1997-1999. The soil was gleyic sod-podzolic light loam. Barley cv. 'Ula" was cultivated acid and limed soil with one and two rates of pulverized limestone according to hydrolytic soil acidity. Fertilization was placement and broadcast. Total enrgy input increased with increased rates of lime and fertilizers. In all the cases the enrgy input used for barley growing was lower in comparison with the total energy accumulated in the yield
