[Forest resources of farmers and its use in Zemgale region]

In the research, the forest potential owned by farmers was assessed in the region of Zemgale and the main directions for using the forests were advised. The composition of forest and forest areas in private property and in use, as well as forest restoration in deforested areas were analysed. Besides, wood-processing enterprises operated by farms and co-operation development opportunities were identified, as well as possibilities for exploiting the areas of unused agricultural lands and shrubs were specified. The use of farmer forests for developing tourism in the region was researched, too. The development directions for farmer's forest management and their use in Zemgale were determined.
