2004
Andersons, E. (University of Latvia, Riga (Latvia))
Remote sensing and observation of the planetary systems by space-borne instruments is analyzed with account for sustainable regional development. Experience of a number of countries exploiting satellite observations is discussed with regard to the situation in Latvia. Particular attention is paid to economic aspects of introducing modern information technologies for monitoring and measuring at regional level. Satellite data as a main source of real environment information for oil and chemical pollution monitoring of Latvia's coastline is considered as a first step of the regional economical development of Kurzeme coastline, because it is not possible to ensure any development id we have such an unprotected environment.
