There are several organisms that can harm potatoes, but the attention should be drawn at those included in Latvian and EU quarantine lists and those that cannot be accepted in seed potatoes. The article specifically deals with golden potato nematode Globodera rostochiensis, potato cancer caused by fungi Synchytrium endobioticum, potato virus (PVX, PVY, PVM, PVS, PLRV and PVA) diseases as well as Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd).
