Promising inbred lines and hybrids from CIMMYT [Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Maiz y Trigo, Lisbao, Mexico] and USM were tested to identify, select and develop various entries for resistance to Philippine corn downy mildew. Out of 1,913 entries/lines tested, 1,741 entries/lines were from CIMMYT and the other 172 came from USM. It was noted that 1,402 entries/lines out of the 1,913 entries/lines or 73.29% showed a degree of resistance to infection based on their reaction to the disease. Plants showing intermediate reaction and susceptible response were also noted in the field, three hundred twenty three entries or 16.88% had intermediate infection while 188 or 9.83% exhibited susceptible reaction
