The growth performance of bakauan-bangkau was assessed periodically in Pujada Bay, Mati, Davao Oriental. Six permanent plots were established in a five-year old bakauan-bangkau plantation in Sitio Guang-guang, Barangay [village] Dahican, Pujada Bay, Mati, Davao Oriental. Sites were classified as good, average, and poor based on the visual observation of height growth and vigor of plantation. Findings showed that annual mean total height growth increment of bakauan-bangkau in good sites ranged from 26.34 cm on the 9-10th year to 31.87 cm on the 8-9th year. For average sites, the annual mean total height ranged from 20.40 cm on the 10-11th year to 33.83 cm on the 9-10th year. For poor sites, mean annual total height increment ranged from 5.71 cm on the 6-7th year to 8.41 cm on the 10-11th year. For good site, the average annual diameter increment ranged from 0.19 cm at age 10-11th year to 0.88 cm at age 5-6th year. For average sites, it ranged from 0.13 cm at age 7-8th year to 0.72 cm at age 5-6th year. Poor sites had 0.11 cm at 9-10th year to 0.50 cm at age 5-6th year. This indicated that the younger the age of plantation, the faster the diameter growth. Net income of a 1-ha bakauan-bangkau plantation 20 years after the establishment was P833,137.50. Planted at a spacing of 1.25 m x 1.25 m, a hectare will yield about 6,250 poles. Assuming 20% mortality and 10% undersized trees, a hectare will have about 70% or 4,375 remaining poles. At P200/pole, the gross income is about P875,000. Net present value (NPV) is estimated at P31,618.49 and benefit cost ratio (BCR) is computed at 2.70
