This experiment was conducted on August 1, 1999, to study the effect of various levels of nitrogen and phosphorus i.e. 0-0, 60-40, 120-50, 180- 60 and 240-70 kg ha-1 on maize crop under irrigated conditions of Bahawalpur on loam soil. Five increasing levels of nitrogen and phosphorus were put to test. Data collected on grain yield and yield components were subjected to standard statistical analysis. The crop indicated positive/significant response to increasing levels of nitrogen and phosphorus. Non-significant correlation was observed between grain yield and number of grains per cob. Optimum fertilizer requirements determined were 180-60 kg NP ha-1 for maize crop under experimental conditions.
