Influence of different fertilizer levels on the growth and productivity of three mungbean (Vigna radiata L.) cultivars
2002
Ikraam, M.
The NPK levels comprised of 50-0-0, 50-100-0, 50-100-50 kg NPK ha-1 and control. Mung cultivars viz. NM-98, NM-36-13-1-2 and NM- 46-7-2 were taken. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with three replications, randomizing the fertilizer levels in main plots and mungbean cultivars in subplots. All other agronomic practices such as weeding, irrigation etc. were kept normal and uniform for all the treatments. Number of plants m-2 plant branches plant-1, 1000- grain weight, and harvest index were not affected significantly by the application of different fertilizer number of grains plant-1 weight, number of fruit bearing number of grains pod, biological yield, grain yield, straw yield and grain protein content were affected significantly by the application of different fertilizer levels. The mungbean cultivars NM-46-7-2 gave the maximum (853.7 kg ha-1) in case of NM-98. The highest grain yield of 1356.76 kg ha-1 from plots planted with NM-46-7-2 and fertilized at 50-100-0 kg NPK ha-1. This increase in grain yield was of fertilizers on the number of pod-1 number of grains plant-1 biological yield and finally the grain yield. NM-46-7-2 is a bold seeded cultivar and it utilizes the soil resources in a better way in order to achieve the potential yield. So the production of NM-46-7-2 is better than the other two cultivars. The mungbean cultivar cv. NM-46-7-2 proved to be the best as it produced the highest grain yield of 1356.76 kg ha-1 when fertilized at the rate of 50-100-0 kg NPK ha-1.
