The experiment for determining a suitable levels of N, P and K fertilizer for harvesting the maximum economic return of sunflower, hybrid FH-81 was carried out on a sandy clay loam soil. Experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications and a net plot size measuring 3x6 m. Results shows that plant population per unit area was not affected significantly by N, F and K application in different combinations. Plant height was affected significantly by N, P and K applications. Maximum plant height (117.93) cm was recorded in plot fertilized at the rate of 130-110-90 N, P and K kg/ha, where as, significantly minimum plant height of 76.94 cm was noted in check plots. The various yield parameters such as head diameter were also significantly affected by application of different levels of N, P and K. Number of filled seeds per head and 1000-seed weight were also significantly affected by application of N, P and K. Data regarding seed oil contents (%) revealed that different combinations of N, P and K had significant effect on it. The maximum oil content (42.17) in seed was produced in check plot and minimum oil contents (38.55 %) were obtained in plot fertilized at the rate of 130-110- 110 N, P and K kg/ha. Application of N, P and K at the rate of (110-70-0 N, P and K kg/ha) seemed to be the appropriate level for getting good yield of better quality. But application beyond (110-70-0 kg/ha) proved to be wasteful as the higher levels of N, P and K Influenced plant growth and development adversely rather favourably
