Koszelnik-Leszek, A. (Wroclaw Agricultural Academy (Poland). Chair of Botany and Plant Phusiology))
The effect of soil contamination with different nickel doses was studied in pot experiment on growth, yield, uptake of nickel and chemical composition of two spring barley varieties. The research objective was to compare the dynamics of nickel uptake by plants during the growing season. It was found that nickel content in spring barley depended on this element concentration in the soil and on the stage of development. The results show different sensibility of two barley varieties to nickel. The higher nickel content was found in Orlik, the lower - in Rudzik variety. The critical nickel dose causing yield decrease was 60 mg/kg in the case of Orlik variety, and 90 mg/kg for Rudzik variety
