Hip dysplasia in a Persian cat family [Portugal]

A cat, female, 3 years old, Persian breed, was presented to the CMVSFA, with history of lameness and reluctance to move since 30 days ago. The orthopaedics exam, reveal abnormal gait and walking with difficulty in supporting weigh at pelvis, reluctance to walking, sounds at coxofemoral joint at walking and palpation, pain at palpation of joint, positive Ortolani sign, atrophy of pelvic region muscles and medial bilateral patella luxation in grade IV. The standard radiography exam of hip joint, confirm the diagnostic of bileteral Hip Dysplasia. It was made and arthroplasty with excision of the head of femurs and an ovariohisterectmy. At moment of consultation, the patient was feeding 4 kittens (3 females and 1 male), at the age of 6 months one of the females showed the same sintomotology then mother, and it was confirmed too the diagnostic of bilateral Hip Dysplasia. The rest of brothers were submited too a survey of the disease and all of then presented it, without showing any signs of clinical disease
