Metastatic malignant skin tumors of a dog: A case report

10-year-old male dog; mixed breed; developed the apocrine adenocarcinoma (AAC) with squamous cell metaplasia (SCM) at the skin of left elbows region. Nineteen months after operation; the tumor was generalized metastasis. The majority of tumor was squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and the minority was AAC. The clinical and rediographic examinations were described. The final conclusion by pathological studies; histopathology and special staining, immunohistochemistry, lectin histochemistry and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were performed. SCC was positive to anti-keratin wide spectrum (Pan-K) and lectins Con A, HPA, GSL-I, PNA, LEL, WGA and UEA-I; while AAC was positive to Pan-K, cytokeratin 7 (CK7) and cytokeratin19 (CK19). The transmission electron microscopic findings showed well-developed desmosmoes tonofilaments and rough endoplasmic reticulum (rER) of SCC. The rare case of SCC and AAC metastasis which was derived from AAC with SCM of left elbow's skin in a dog was first described.
