[As to the issue of placing the wind farms]

Based on experience of foreign countries (Germany, Spain, Denmark, the USA, India), in Ukraine launched is the National Complex Programme on Wind Farms Consruction. The total power of Ukrainian WF will be brought up to 1800 MWt by 2010 and, as a prospect up to 2030, 20-30 % of total energy consumption in this country is planned to be provided by the WF. In 2000 in Ukraine exploited were Donuzlav WF (annual power 3.54 MWt), Saky (9.48), Novoazov (5.38 MWt) and four small WF (Truskavets, Askania, Adzhyhalsk, Aktash, Black Sea of total power 2.5 MWt). Planned are increasing in the power of the existing WF and constructing the new ones. In this connection the issue of placing this objects without threat for environment, life conditions and population health is being solved. Given is information on the requirements as to placing thereof, adverse factors of WF environmental impact, special features of WF construction (potential noise sources) and also occupational diseases and preventive measures of hazardous impact thereof. A formula to calculate the acoustic pollution level in the WF placement area is included. The expected levels of sound pressure in octave frequency bands at different distances from WF are tabulated. Conclusions are drawn and recommendations are elaborated on the main hygienic requirements as to the placement, designing and operating the WF
