The authors estimated that the Aviosepensiosis caused by Avioserpens taiwana was common severe roundworm disease of ducks in Ba Ria -Vung Tau province, according to the results on their helminthological investigation in 2001. In several aquacultural and rice cultivation areas, the ducks of 1-2 months old infected A. taiwana with very high rate (18.67 percent). The diseased ducks usually appear a lot of subcutaneous tumors where there are filarial parasites and fibrinogenous inflammation in their head, neck, leg... This is the cause of difficult respiration, anorexia and weakness in ducks. In the heavy disease cases, the ducks would be died with high mortality. The procedure of Avioserpensiosis control that the authors established, consisted of using Ivermectin with dose of 0,2mg/kg of body weight to inject dirrectly to filarial tumors, realizing environmental hygiene with eradication of Cyclops spp and Diatomus spp and banning to loose ducks in the endemic areas of Avioserpensiosis.
