Potential of the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema carpocapsae Weiser as biological agent for control of larvae of rice leaffolder Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Guenee), was tested in the laboratory and field conditions during May 1995 - August 1997. Under laboratory conditions it was found that the values of LC50 of S. carpocapsae on larvae of C. medinalis on filter paper and on rice growing in pots were 190.55 and 794.33 individuals per ml, respectively. Under field conditions S. carpocapsae was less efficient than carbosulfan insecticide (P0.01). However, the obtained grain yield did not differ significantly among all treatments (check, carbosulfan and S. carpocapsae) (P0.05).
