Effect of stones on the germination and growth of mango seedlings

Effect of mango stones on the germination ability and seedling vigour was studied. Seedstones obtained from seedling mangoes gave better germination (86.67 percent) than that of grafted (66.67 percent) ones. Seedling type excelled the grafted one in an average number of leaves per seedling, leafsize, seedling height and girth. Again, the small, medium and big stones gave 76.67, 80.00 and 75.66 percent germination, respectively. The stones of big and medium in size and heavier in weight gave better success with regard to number of leaves per seedling, leaf size, seedling height and girth than the smaller and lighter weight stones.
