Study was conducted in Madhupur upazila, in Bangladesh, where main source of irrigation is ground water. Fourty two different irrigated and respective non-irrigated soils were collected to examine the effect of long term ground water irrigation on the status of zinc, copper, iron, boron and manganese in soil. The duration of irrigation ranged from 3 to 16 years. Boron and iron content increased significantly due to ground water irrigation. Concentrations of zinc, copper and manganese did not reflect remarkable change.
